Hello.

Welcome to cuiscenes, a Toronto-based food blog. We are by no means food experts or professional critics and the thing is, most people aren't either. We're just a few people who love eating.

Little Nicky's Coffee

Little Nicky's Coffee

If you've ever walked down Queen St W, you may have noticed the massive sign on the brick wall pointing to Little Nicky's Coffee, a retro cafe tucked away in its own little nook on Peter Street.

Just walking into the small coffeeshop is a treat as you're immediately overwhelmed by the smell of their impossible-to-resist mini donuts. We say impossible-to-resist because at $2.75 for a half dozen and $4 for a dozen, you really can't regret ordering them.

We each order a latte ($3.50) and split the half-dozen donuts ($2.75). The latte was well-made and biting into the freshly-made mini donuts transferred us to cloud nine if only for a bit. Coated in sugar and cinnamon, they make the perfect small indulgence.

Half Dozen Mini Donuts ($2.75) and Latte ($3.50)

On a weekday afternoon, the place is bustling with activity from a plethora of 20 and 30-something's quickly grabbing their caffeine fix to sitting down for a good ol' fashioned coffee date.

It's worth mentioning that their playlist is excellent as well (to us, at least). During our half-hour stay, bands like The Shins and Vampire Weekend were on constant rotation.

With its retro decor, killer soundtrack, and intoxicating smell, it's hard not to feel right at home in this gem of a cafe.
